Teaching Kids How to Keep Safe From Fire
Fire Prevention Coloring Books

Out of all the things we can teach kids, fire prevention and fire safety is one of the most important. Schools everywhere teach fire safety, but it's important to reinforce this knowledge at home on a regular basis. These are some of the most important points of fire safety.

The single most important point is to always use smoke detectors. Few people are aware that most fire-related deaths are actually caused by smoke inhalation rather than by flames. For that reason it is of key importance to place a smoke detector on each level of your home and near each sleeping area. It's critical to get as much warning as possible, because otherwise the smoke could reach you before you hear an alarm. But it is key to test those smoke detectors at least once a month to make sure they are functioning properly. Even if the smoke detector works, be sure to change the batteries once a year or more.

The second critical element of fire prevention and safety is to make a family evacuation plan. Children learn a school evacuation procedure while at school, but it's of course . The main slogan is "Be Prepared." Draw up a floor plan of your home, and select at least 2 possible escape paths for every room. That way if one route is blocked, you can use your second route as an alternative. You should also designate a meeting spot outside and away from your house, and teach your kids to stay at that meeting spot no matter what happens.

One more critical part of fire education is that fire is not a toy and children are not to play with it. Matches and lighters are only for use by adults. Grownups should always try to keep those items away from children. Children should also be taught to avoid tossing things into the fire place and touching lit candles.

The above are a few of the important fire safety tips that children need to know about. But there are others. You should check with the local municipality and fire department for more comprehensive information. In addition there are many other internet-based resources available.

What Countries Does Gold Come From?
Where is gold found?

Gold is a famous metal that affects all of our lives, but all of us have at some time or another wondered where gold is from. Gold needs to be found and taken from the ground before it can be turned into such treasures.

Also referred to as the "Rand", it provided forty percent of the gold in the world during those 120 years. Much of the earth's untapped gold resources are believed to remain there, with some estimates saying that the proportion is up to one third.

Where is gold found? Primarily China, USA, South Africa, and Australia. After South Africa, the second biggest gold producing country is the United States. In particular Nevada, but also other states like Alaska, California, and Colorado have a gold mining output.

After the United States, the third biggest gold producing country is Australia. The initial discovery of gold was in New South Wales near the town of Ophir and these days is mostly mined in the Goldfields Esperance and Pilbara areas (in Western Australia), and at Bendigo (Victoria province). The hugest open-air mine in the Land Down Under is the "Super-Pit" gold mine near the town of Kalgoorie a settlement in the Goldfields Esperance area, and stretches over 8 square kilometers.

But if we measure only the current year's production, China has become the world's largest producer of gold, overtaking South Africa's top position in 2007. Other countries such as the United States, Canada, and Australia actually have more extensive gold reserves than China. However, the low cost of labor and production in China, as well as recent capital expansion and increase in foreign investment, have helped China make more efficient use of its reserves than the other countries that are more resource-rich.

The Lasting Influence and Effects of the UK's Imperial Era
The UK's Imperial Legacy

The United Kingdom, also known as the UK, is a country situated just north and west of continental Europe, lying across the English Channel from France. The UK is worthy of note for various reasons, including its former status as a world empire, its continuing cultural and geopolitical influence, and its economic strength. The population of the UK is around 61 million people, with a very high population density.

The country has the sixth-largest economy in the world. English literature originating in Britain is studied by students all over the world and loved by countless others.

The UK reached such heights of influence mostly through its former imperial power. The British Empire was the largest one in history, amounting up to 25 % of the Earth's lad surface area.Still today, the UK holds onto fourteen territories overseas, that are remnants of the British Empire. It holds a permanent UN Security Council seat.

The British military is a powerful one, despite its relatively low manpower. It has a standing army of approximately 100,000 men, the 27th largest army in the world in terms of manpower. But from the standpoint of defense spending, the United Kingdom is the 4th largest military force.

Even though it is no longer a global empire of monstrous proportions, the UK continues to have both political and cultural influence in the world. This is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Highlights of Israel's Tourist Sites
Highlights of Traveling in Israel

Israel is a fun and rewarding place to travel. The country is full of ancient historic and religious sites, impossible to believe geographic variation for such a tiny country, great food, generally wonderful weather, and a fascinating blend of cultures. Unfortunately it is a country in conflict, and the portrayal of this area on the news frightened a large amount of travelers away from this entrancing land. But armed with a little bit of information and basic precaution, traveling in Israel is actually quite safe.

From a geographic viewpoint, Israel is so different from region to region that it feels like several different states in one. The coastal plain which encompasses the cities of Tel-Aviv and Haifa features rolling sand dunes and palm trees, attractive beaches, and mild but really humid subtropical weather. It's a great area to soak up the sun, enjoy nightlife, and absorb the ambience of modern Israel's culture. Yafo is part of Tel Aviv, and is a restored traditional city going back to biblical times. Further north in Haifa you can visit the world HQ of the Baha'i faith. Further north in Akko you can visit the Medieval old city and experience its Arabic atmosphere.

To the east of Haifa and Akko lies the Galilee region, the area where Jesus was raised. The city of Nazareth lies in this area lies in this area, and features a number of churches and churches in honour of Jesus. Nazareth is populated especially with Israeli Arab citizens, so you can experience the contrast with Jewish Israeli culture. To the east of Nazareth lies the city of Tiberias and the sea of Galilee. This is where Jesus walked on water, and where John the Baptist was baptized. There is some gorgeous views in the area, and some lovely churches dedicated to Jesus and events involving him in the area. A fun activity is to rent a cycle in Tiberias and ride the bicycle around the ocean of Galilee. This will take a complete day, but if you can resist the heat, it's a superb short break.

In the south of Israel lies the Negev desert, the latest and driest part of Israel. Its main focus is the resort city of Eilat, which is known for scubadiving, snorkelling, and pleasant weather year round. The summers in Eilat are freakishly hot, infrequently reaching fifty degrees. Bring a bathing suit!

And naturally the jewel in the crown of any trip to Israel is Jerusalem. Lying in the Judaen hills and having a religion heritage rivalled by no other city on Earth, Jerusalem has a cultural atmosphere like nowhere else in Israel. This is the place where King Solomon ruled, where Muhammad rose to heaven, and where Jesus was crucified. The Old city of Jerusalem lies in East Jerusalem and has a Palestinian majority, so you can experience the Palestinian strategy for living while also seeing the Jewish, Muslim, and Christian holy sites within its walls. The city of Bethlehem lies simply to the south of Jerusalem, but within the Palestinian autonomous area. Many tourists visit Bethlehem and it is usually safe. But check the news before traveling there, because occasionally there are issues between Israeli troops and Palestinians in the area. The Church of the Nativity marks the spot where practice claims that Jesus was born.

Israel is an interesting land with such a lot to see, and more than things to see there is such a lot to learn and experience. Speaking to Israelis and Palestinians and understanding their country, its conflict, and its cultures is a fascinating and eye-opening experience. I'm hoping you can experience this land too.
